At The Langley Skating Club we focus on providing high quality skating programs with instruction from dedicated Skate Canada certified coaches. We encourage skaters to develop to the best of their ability and achieve their goals, in a supportive club setting while fostering a passion for the sport of skating. We believe that empowering skaters with confidence, skill, and a strong work ethic promotes personal success.
Director of Skating Programs – Regan Taylor, Ch.P.C.
Regan Taylor returns the Langley Skating Club as a Charted Professional Coach with the Coaches of Canada. Regan is a Level 3 Certified Coach with extensive Level 4 training and an Advanced Coaching Diploma from the National Coaching Institute.
Regan was awarded the BC/YT Professional Club and Recreational Coach of Excellence Award in 2012. She holds a B.Sc. and a B.Ed. and is working on completing a Master’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology at UBC by studying developmental figure skaters. Regan also has a BC College of Teacher's Teaching Certificate and has had gold status in the Coaches Continuing Education Program since it began in 2004. She also has a B.Sc (Chemistry) and B.Ed. (Minor in Secondary Mathematics).
Regan specializes in the competitive skating programs at the Langley Skating Club.
Ulla is a Level 5 Masters Coach in Finland and Level 3 NCCP in Canada. She has over 30 years coaching experience and coaches all levels from Beginners up to Senior Level skaters competing at the International Level.
Ullla has her own skating school in Finland and actively holds camps in Finland and Mexico. Additionally, She has a Masters degree in Biomechanics, Physiology and Education from Jyvaskyla University.
Ulla has also studied Sports Medicine at the University of Finland and is a graduate from the International Clearmind Counselling Institute and she has own counselling practice in Burnaby.
Taylyr is a Level II Trained coach and is our new Canskate Coordinator. Taylyr graduated from UBC with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science after moving here from Ontario where she trained at an Elite Ice Dance Centre.
Taylyr has now been coaching in the Vancouver are for over 5 years and has managed many successful CanSkate programs for different skating clubs. She will also be working with our competitive skaters and our synchro teams. Taylyr has Bronze status in Skate Canada's Continuing Education Program.
Taylyr specializes in our Canskate Program and talent identification for our Junior STARS program.
Club Coach - Julie Kivinen
Julie has been teaching at the Langley Figure Skating Club since 1985 and was formally the Head Coach for many years. She now works part-time with the Langley Skating Club supporting its competitive skaters and their programs.
Julie is Level II Certified and has taught many competitive skaters over the years.
Julie has seen many many changes in the sport but still love teaching. She considers herself semi-retired, and enjoys traveling with her husband.
Julie teaches all disciplines and specializes is our Teen Program.
Chrisanna was born and raised in Nova Scotia, where she learned to skate before moving to BC. Once in BC she skated for Kilarney and the Vancover Skating Club. While skating at the Vancouver Club she was noticed and chosen to be an Ice Dance partner for the son of a World competitor. That partnership lasted a year before his family moved to Europe. Chrisanna enjoys teaching all levels of skating from preschool up to and including the adults.
She is CanPower certified and Level II Trained. She also is a Certified Aerobics Instructor.
Chrisanna specializes in Recreational Figure Skaters.
Ellen participated in soccer, swimming and speed skating while living in Korea. After moving to Canada,she found passion for figure skating, and was able to complete all four Gold Levels in 5 years.
Ellen's new challenge is completing a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
She is an accomplished musician in piano and violin specifically, where she has completed R.C.M level 4 and 8, respectively.
Ellen is currently attending UFV in Kinesiology, but has developed interest for Criminology and Law.
Ellen is Level I Trained and works with all our skating programs - specializing in Teen STARS, CanSkate and Korean language lessons.
Club Coach - Emily Bator
Emily is Level 1 Trained Coach and also CanPowerskate Certified. She was a successful competitive figure skater and was the Gold PacificSkate Provincial Champion in 2012. Emily has also won interpretive skating titles.
Emily is currently attending SFU.
Emily is the head coach of the PowerSkating program in Partnership with the Langley Knights.
