Volunteering

Want to lend a hand? We welcome your help!

As a non-profit organization, Langley Skating Club is run and managed by a group of volunteers: the LSC board and skaters' parents. The volunteer work is essential to the  quality and success of our club, and to your child's experience here. Prior experience is  not required. Volunteering in the Club is a great opportunity to learn about the sport  of figure skating and how the club runs, as well as a fun way to meet other Club  members and have a good time while helping out.

 â€‹

Langley Skating Club members have two options:

1. Volunteer with refundable deposit:

The specified hours of volunteering for the Club must be completed and documented by May 15, 2025; otherwise the Volunteer bond will be charged. When you register for your season, please check off that you would like to pay installments.  This will allow the volunteer bond to be invoiced for May 15 2025.

2. Volunteer opt-out payment:

Those who choose the Volunteer Fee/Opt out option can pay for the full amount of the volunteer bond at the time of registration.

Please note: Each credit is work $25. Partial payment will be collected at the end of the Spring 2025 season if the full hours are not completed

The amount of the Volunteer Deposit, Fee, and Hours is dependent on the skater's designation.

  • Junior Academy: Minimum Volunteer hours Required: 10 hours | Cheque Amount: $250

  • Junior: Minimum Volunteer hours Required: 10 hours | Cheque Amount: $250

  • Intermediate: Minimum Volunteer hours Required: 20 hours | Cheque Amount: $500

  • Senior: Minimum Volunteer hours Required: 30 hours | Cheque Amount: $750

The number of hours is per skater, not per family.

Board Members will get full credits for their volunteer hours.

Parent MUST seek board approval before a skaters volunteers for their family hours.  Program assistant hours do not count towards volunteer hours.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Notification will be sent out by email when volunteers are needed. Tasks are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

It is the responsibility of parents to ensure they provide a valid email address and fulfill the minimum hours’ requirement if they would like their deposit cheque returned. Completed tasks/hours must be recorded on an ongoing basis in a Volunteer Hours Log spreadsheet - Link below.

Tasks performed by children will not be accepted as volunteer hours, unless approved in advance.
