Volunteering

Want to Lend a Hand? We Welcome Your Help!

Langley Skating Club is a non-profit organization that relies on the dedication of our volunteers. From music playing to competitions, test days, ice shows, and club events, every helping hand makes a difference. Volunteering is a great way to support your skater, meet other families, and help keep our programs running smoothly.

Volunteer Hour Plan

Each skating family is expected to complete volunteer hours based on their skater's level. Hours are divided into Music Playing, Flexible Club Events, and Ice Show Support to help ensure all club operations are adequately staffed throughout the season.

Credit System: Each 15 minutes is 1 Credit. If you volunteer for a 45 minute music playing session, you will earn 3 Credits.

Skater Level Total Hours Music Playing Flexible Events Ice Show Support
CanSkate 2 Hours (8 Credits) 2 Hours
Junior / Junior Academy 10 Hours (40 Credits) 3 Hours 3 Hours 4 Hours
Intermediate 24 Hours (96 Credits) 10 Hours 6 Hours 8 Hours
Senior 26 Hours (104 Credits) 12 Hours 6 Hours 8 Hours

Volunteer Bond Program

A volunteer bond of $25 per required volunteer hour will be assigned to each skater's account at the beginning of the season.

Skater Level Required Hours Bond Value
CanSkate 2 Hours $50
Junior / Junior Academy 10 Hours $250
Intermediate 24 Hours $600
Senior 26 Hours $650
  • The volunteer bond will only be processed at the end of the season if required volunteer hours have not been completed.
  • If the club is unable to host a competition, volunteer requirements may be prorated accordingly.
  • If your family is unable to complete volunteer hours for a valid reason, please contact the Board. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Families hosting international students through a BC public school homestay program may request a volunteer bond waiver by submitting a valid Homestay Placement Confirmation.

Important Information

  • Senior sessions experienced a shortage of music volunteers last season. Parents from other levels are encouraged to help whenever possible.
  • Volunteer hours will be tracked throughout the season, and regular updates will be sent to families.
  • Every volunteer role, big or small, helps keep our club running smoothly and strengthens our skating community.

Thank You!

Our goal is not to collect volunteer bonds, but to encourage participation from every skating family. Your support allows coaches to focus on skaters, helps competitions and test days run smoothly, and creates memorable experiences for everyone at Langley Skating Club.
